The ink on the envelope
Wiped out from the January snow
Still I can tell it’s a letter from Mary
Expectantly I go through her lines
`Cause it’s been some time
That we have talked
Now six of her words strike my eyes:
„In Summer he will marry me!“
And I think of the evenings on the phone
When all she did was cry
And in moments of clearness she’d say:
„I’d be better off without him!“
How things can change
Out of the blue, yeah
Da, da, da, da, da..........
Will it come true
Now I get a message from somewhere
Out in the Caribbean..........from Mary:
„We had to escape the April rain..........
Now I’m standin’ here at the ocean’s roar
And I’m wearing a golden ring..........
We’re gonna celebrate
When we get back home
And I’ll be glad to see you all again!“
